JICA Project by Kochi Women's University

Through 2005 to 2008, we were delegated to project and execute group training as a part of JICA's domestic operation for gender mainstreaming and WID (Women In Development).

Seminar "Educating Leaders of Communities for The Improvement of Women's Quality of Life" was designed to encourage the participants to comprehend the present status and lives of women and to educate them for leadership positions dealing with improvement of the life quality of women in communities.

Through the training, we believe that they acquired the knowledge and formulas to resolve the problems of women in communities and to improve communities themselves through gender equality.

OVERALL GOAL

Based upon what we have accomplished through fifty years history of education for women, we settled the goal to educate leaders who participate in women's rights, health and quality of life issues.

Through the courses, the participants were expected to attain the following objectives.

(1) To acquire basic knowledge of gender and problems caused by gender inequality.
(2) To understand the endeavor for improvement in women's status and quality of life through examples in Kochi and in Japan.
(3) To understand deeply women's problems in the countries of other participants.
(4) To become fully conscious of the need to analyze and resolve women's problems in the respective countries of participants through all that they learn in the courses.
